John says...yes, a military drill after all...and will work only with modern synthetic clothing....
but interesting anyway that something like this works, which goes against common sense(getting out of the wet clothes and near a fire)
thanks for your blog posts, web page and youtube vids
John says...Maybe related to this topic:
Also, what was it that you didn´t like about the Lowe Alpine pack?
Roave says...Works fine.
Maybe salt tablets might be of use for you. I have found out just last year ( I'm mid-40's ) that I couldn't sleep with my usual kit in -7°C...instead, I had to strip down to my birthday suit and then get into my -9°C sleeping bag to get the best night sleep outdoors so far. Since I've got Dupuytren's and Ledderhose, my feet overheat and swell in the blink of an eye. And the weirdest thing of all is, I get the same effects of frostbite just by lying on the couch... in the summer?!!
Anyways, this test works.
Hope you'll get some sleep tonight... .
Nigel says...Spot on information especially hydration. I was at 1200 mtrs in the winter and not thirsty, came down to 200 mtrs and had a raging thirst until I returned to 1200 mtrs where the thirst disappeared! However this one experiment was enough, so I drank and now I always stay hydrated
